this is an unique movie, a great viewing experience for me. initially, from the beginning, i thought it would be more about profanity and prepared to cut after the first fifteen minutes, but then a couple of sharp lines kept my attention and it was well worth it. just by looking at the actors, the camera work and directing you can appreciate the love this movie was made with. the music also helped a lot, by providing a great atmosphere. you cant really define this as a comedy and put it in comparison with 'comedies' like "american pie" and such - "Strictly Sexual" is a story about love, the effect it has and people; how it can make you happy or make you cry...actually i feel the nonsense i started writing, while all i wanted to say is - this is a beautiful movie, i feel like i'd want to watch it again, and again, just like how you want to love and be loved, always

this movie was veeeeery funny - Adam in the role of an action-hero was
hilarious. the dialog was rich with jokes and situations and the actors
played without any constraints...some might be offended by abuse of
cultural stereotypes, but all the jokes were well-natured and
good-humored. the tag line that we're all the same and there is no need
to fight is something i liked a lot - some movies achieve it through
human drama, pain and suffering, but funny movies like this one might
be better suited to deliver the message, especially to the younger
generation...
I enjoyed this movie a lot
well, we already know almost all peculiarities of superheroes... the idea in Hancock is refreshing though, much like Uma's Super Ex-Girlfriend - only, I assume, with a bigger budget and, of course, Will Smith, who seems to be only playing in fresh movies. nothing much to say about it, though - just your normal summer action-hit, made only for your enjoyment, don't give it much thought... of course it might be a missed opportunity - wonder if a TV show will follow - not that it will be something extraordinary of course - who in the industry cares to make something really outstanding... still it is more developed than, for example, Jumper

i only went to see this movie because it is 3D. the visuals can be
considered impressive, but the strange thing is the stress seemed not
to be on the effects, but the story...which is weak. i did expect more
monsters/dinosaurs, so on that i'm a bit disappointed, but the ones
that are in the movie are not un-worthy to see. had the movie been
longer, perhaps i would enjoy it more, but the way it is squeezed into
90 minutes didn't give me any satisfaction...
the actors...you know Brendan - so you'd know the type of movie to
expect, I'd say The Mummie was better than this one though - kind of,
more fun, even without the visuals...

Mislead by some comments here i expected a laugh-out comedy, Ben Stiler
style. Many other people in the cinema expected the same and from the
beginning of the film they laughed at the slightest hint that something
might be funny. Little by little though, the laughs went to silence and
people understood they were watching a drama, not a comedy. Indeed
there were scenes that made you laugh, but the more important scenes
were those that take you by the heart and make you feel and understand.
Thanks to the great acting by Ryan Gosling, Emily Mortimer, Paul
Schneider, Patricia Clarkson, all the supporting cast, you get a feel
of a community of neighbors, friends, family, perhaps too idealized,
but nevertheless, giving hope and warmth.
What totally surprised me was that this is an original American movie
(correct me if i'm wrong). The names of the characters, people's
features and clothes, the weather and location if you like, all made me
think this is an authentic Scandinavian movie, up to the dialog and
plot itself. I could literally see rural Scandinavian types and
imagined the characters speak Norwegian or Swedish. The whole flow of
the movie, the way it never went out of order, kept its steady,
peaceful step, so typical for European movies - all my regards to
director Craig Gillespie for achieving this. Anything else would've
spoiled this sad movie, diminished its message, denied the sacrifices
and human pain of its characters
The story in short is of a man, troubled by his past and afraid of
closeness even with his loving family. He finds an seemingly
undemanding friend in a human-sized doll he buys over the internet.
Soon, with the help of his family and the whole town, who decide to
play his game, he discovers the beauty of human touch, emotion and
contact...

man, this was crazy! i was totally unprepared for this movie and had
such fun watching it. there are scenes that are just brutally funny, in
the sense perhaps of 'All About Marry' and maybe 'Dumb, Dumber'. Don't
know about the negative comments, but for me this is an original and
wildly funny movie, that would make you laugh to tears, and still
you'll beg for more. it is also so bold with its jokes, breaking taboos
and fighting clichés...you just have to see it :) Jessica Alba is
lovely, of course, and sexy too, and Dane Cook is The Man in this movie
- sometimes taking bad decisions, sometimes being strong and caring,
sometimes just wild and stupid and enjoying it... just take some time
to watch it and entertain yourself
enjoy!

i enjoyed this movie a lot. there were the typical ben stiller
embarrassing situations and crazy laughs. perhaps too typical though :(
the main character is the normal guy ben usually plays - its one main
thing about him - he's lonely and looking for love. pressed by age, he
dares and marries a girl he just met and barely knows, and going on
their honey moon he begins to think he might have made a mistake so he
meets another girl and...his heart switches ways... its kinda unfair to
his newly wed wife, but this is the way Farrelly bros movies are
-pretty harsh to the characters sometimes in order to squeeze some
laughter from the dear audience. but the white hairs on Ben Stiller's
head are hinting that may be the time for this kind of laugh is passing
away... still its a very enjoyable movie, and i wouldn't go too deep
into it, but on the very next day i went to a prescreen of "Good Luck
Chuck" and I as well as everyone at the cinema literally laughed our
asses off :) anyway - if you're a fan of ben stiller's do watch this
movie. i am a big fan of his, and actually missed seeing him in a role
like this, and enjoyed it a lot while watching it, but when you keep
doing the same thing over and over again, there comes a moment when
people want to see something new...and something new there usually is

i went expecting to see a really stupid teen comedy, and was a bit
surprised, because it exceeded my expectations but in a good way. it
really starts with all the clichés you can expect, but later develops
into something really watchable and entertaining. after the first few
minutes then i was ready to leave the cinema - i went to watch the
movie at a free 'Advance Movie Screening' in Cinema Village and
expected that it is a new movie, so after the first few minutes i
thought 'why are they still making stupid movies like this? don't they
think we had enough of this crap already'? but now that i see it was
released in 2004, i'm kinda relieved :) so...after the first about 10
minutes, as the movie develops, i began to see some real story develop,
with nice dialog, funny moments (even grossly funny, but hm...in a good
way :)
actually - why am i writing such a long comment? 3 years after its
release, there isn't a single comment on this movie here, and even at
the free prescreening there were so few people....i actually intended
to go see 'Lust, Caution', but apparently the interest there was
huge...
but to get to my point - this is actually a good movie, you just need
to give it a chance, and i believe you'd enjoy it

i don't understand why is this movie being praised so much. granted,
the pr campaign was in full force, but still...lots of visuals, no
content, not even real jokes - at least in 'die hard 4' there were some
really funny lines, but here - only dull dialog, really sketchy scenes,
some bad directors work, and actors who weren't given more than 1-2
seconds per scene. John Turturro was the happy exception, he was
actually allowed to steal a few scenes. overall - i expected so much
more, even though i haven't read any of the comics, perhaps the
comments of other viewers mislead me to believe there might be
something more than flashy effects. i guess the pr people invaded
IMDb.com as well =/ can hardly give more than 5/10, which is perhaps
one of the lowest ratings i've given here on IMDb
you don't choose your viewers, the viewers choose you...

i remember seeing this incredibly strong, heartbreaking movie three
times in three consecutive days. i couldn't get enough of the pure
beauty of the scenery, the warmth of the characters, the pain you feel
when you know what doom awaits them around the corner.
i understand that for political or other issues many Russians don't
like this movie, but i think it is a very honest, revelation story by
Nikita Mikhalkov, who after this movie I came to respect as a genius
artist. probably forever in my mind will live so many beautiful scenes
from this movie: the burning, yet mild sun by the lake, the forgotten
secrets of two ex-lovers, the infinite 'ruskoe pole', the happy people
at the beach, living happily unsuspecting of the terror machine of the
dictatorship 'for the people'
outstanding movie, one of my forever favorites
